Entrepreneurs: Maybe You Should Complain More

Our dissatisfactions are absolute gold mines for innovations –- but we gotta do it right.
Hey, I’m FOR complaining!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with complaining , we all do it.
If you don’t see a problem with something then you would never complain about it, right?
So why would anyone have a reason to make things better without being able first to notice its flaws?
We place so much blame on complaints as if being desensitized (not being able to see the flaws in things and systems) is a merit.
It’s time we challenge such nonsense.
From the evolution of an idea to the revolution of an era—
everything springs from the first disgruntled person who made a complaint.
However, not all complaints are created equal.
Complaints serve different purposes, and it’s crucial to recognize their intents and potentials.
There are 3 distinct kinds of complaints:
- Complaints With No Intent Of Resolution (ex. Nitpicking, ceaseless rants)
- Complaints that open your mind to new possibilities
- Complaints that turn into solution(s) and opportunities
Guess which kind of complaint is the most common?
Complaint #1.
Why?
Because people want to rant and nitpick as a means to cause issues, rather than a means of exploration and solution.
Ranting and nitpicking is noise without purpose that contributes to nothing but stagnation.
That’s the problem.
So, how do you tell the difference?
Is the person complaining from a place of reason or is the person being unreasonable?
That’s the big clue.
The open-minded would turn their own complaints into opportunities for learning and growth.
The creative would turn their complaints into solutions.
The business-minded creator would turn their solutions into a product or service.
Both of these involve a growth mindset where one trains themselves to see opportunities in everything that they come across — good or bad.
Whichever stance you decide to take as a habit will determine where you land in life.
